Magazines

The most widely purchased magazine in education is the Times Educational Supplement - which exists in a main edition for school teachers in England, and has separate editions for Scotland, Wales and for Higher Education.

I have heard it said many times that the problem with the TES (as it is known) is that it is only read by teachers for the job adverts.  Certainly if you compare a current edition (it comes out each Friday) with a copy from 20 years ago it is clear that the level of non-job advertising has declined greatly.

However it may well still be possible to create a successful campaign using magazines - recognising that not only are there many different magazines but also different ways of advertising in magazines.

There are over 100 educational magazines ranging from the specialist subject magazine (such as Music Teacher) to magazines run by trade unions (such as The Teacher, published by the National Union of Teachers).  All such magazines take display advertisements, but some additionally have classified adverts.  Others will run a news article about a company for a fee.
