1. Postal campaigns

Postal mailing – sending your item out on its own to schools – is the most expensive approach, but also gives the highest response rates. The level of response rate depends on the price of the item you are selling, but for a £25 product response rates of 2% or 3% are not unknown. The all time record is 11.5%

1.1 Mailing lists of teachers Please visit: http://www.hamilton-house.com/gateways/education%20mailing%20lists.html

1.2 Solo mailings In a solo campaign, Hamilton House can supply the mailing list and undertake the full mailing on your behalf.

Making direct mail work: http://www.mailings.org.uk/

1.3 Postal shared mailings In a shared mailing your leaflet is sent to schools along with items from other companies. The school administrator takes all the leaflets and passes them on to the relevant member of the school (eg The Head of Music, the Deputy Head etc). From time to time we offer postal shared mailings which include a free email campaign. Details of all prices and special offers are on www.shared.org.uk

2. Email campaigns

2.1 Generic The generic list is made up of the general school addresses – that is addresses such as office@ or admin@ with no teacher details. You can buy the full generic list of over 27000 schools for under £50, or have Hamilton House undertake the mailing for you. http://www.emails.gs/generic.html

2.2 Personal addresses These addresses are the individual addresses of the teachers. Where the school has not allocated these but where we have the name of the teacher, the generic address is given, with the teacher’s name in the subject line.
Primary schools http://www.emails.gs/Primarynamedlist.html
Secondary schools http://www.emails.gs/Secondarynamedlist.html
We also have a number of subscription lists which teachers opt into, and which get one news item and one advertorial per week. http://www.emails.gs/emailteachersdirect.html

2.3 Shared email Details of up to five companies are included in a shared email, with links at the start so the teacher can see what information is included. http://www.emails.gs/Email10000.html

2.4 Email your own lists via Hamilton House http://www.emails.gs/ownlists.html

2.5 Creating successful email campaigns http://www.mailing.org.uk/email.html

3. Blogs

Hamilton House can set up a blog for you, and we can add articles to it. http://www.hamilton-house.com/blogs

4. Websites

4.1 Building a website http://www.hamilton-house.com/webdesign.html

4.2 The schools site www.schools.co.uk contains a list of all the schools in the UK – it is widely used by schools and by parents, and you can advertise within the site, or have a link to your website or blog.

4.3 The School procurement site. www.top5.org.uk contains a listing of hundreds of companies that supply schools. We email teachers regularly with details of the site, encouraging them to use it. They are also attracted by the special listing of free information and services on the site.
A basic listing costs £25 a year: http://www.top5.org.uk/Suppliers.html

5. PR campaigns

We can run a complete campaign for you or you can select individual services from Hamilton House

5.1 A full PR campaign for just £249 per month www.voom.org.uk

5.2 UK Education News This is our regular news service for schools which gets around 30,000 hits a month. The cost of a listing is £25 plus vat which includes a listing for at least a year. Please have a look at www.ukeducationnews.co.uk and then send in your headline, and the text you would like the headline to link to (as a word file), plus your details for invoicing, and a note to say you agree to the fee of £25 plus VAT.

6. Creative services

A quick intro to our creative services is at http://www.hamilton-house.com/gateways/creative.html
We also have a directory of technical articles on the factors that affect response rates at http://www.theory.bz/factors.html
We will also undertake a free review of your copy prior to you mailing it out. http://www.hamilton-house.com/copy%20analysis.html

7. Running complete marketing campaigns

Velocity offers you a way of involving our marketing team within your complete campaign. It also reduces the cost of your email marketing dramatically. http://www.velocity.ac/education.html

8. Databases

We can help you build databases, and handle them – often dramatically reducing the cost of your mailings by ensuring that you only mail to the most relevant addresses http://www.hamilton-house.com/gateways/database.html

9. Marketing news

Receive regular information and updates on marketing to education. http://www.hamilton-house.com/gateways/newsgroups.html

10. Research

Where campaigns fail it is sometimes because assumptions are made about teachers’ attitudes or views, which don’t exactly coincide with the way teachers perceive a product or an issue. Research programmes can be run as part of the Velocity programme (point 7 above) or individually. http://www.hamilton-house.com/gateways/research.html
